Potential Nuclear Radiation in Eastern Europe
With confirmation from Ukrainian and Russian officials, the Zaporizhzhia power plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, first lost the core of one of its most important reactors, and then, according to the latest official announcement, it went out of operation.
The entire focus of the International Atomic Energy Agency is on the risks arising from a serious problem in this power plant and the potential for nuclear radiation in Eastern Europe. The distribution of iodine tablets among people living in areas surrounding the power plant continues as one of the few measures to assist citizens in the event of the onset of nuclear radiation.
