The poverty line in Iran has reached 12 million tomans.
The Social Security Organization reported a few months ago that at least 30% of Iran’s population now lives below the poverty line. Unofficial statistics suggest that this portion of Iran’s population reaches 50% of the total population, which is approximately 42 million Iranians.
According to unofficial studies, the poverty line in Iran has reached 12 million tomans. A poverty line from which workers are increasingly distancing, having to live on a maximum income of 4 million tomans.
Sociologist Amanollah Gharaei Moghadam also stated on this matter that unfortunately, people’s livelihoods in our society are at risk today. The per capita meat consumption for each Iranian is 3 kilograms, and a young person can consume less than 10 grams of meat per day. As a result, the main factor for the emergence of violence and creating a tense atmosphere in society is the economy, but it is not the only factor. Other factors like unfair treatment, restrictions, and deprivations also influence the creation of such an atmosphere.
