Presidential Elections: Haqqani Group Calls Critical Media 'Slanderous'

Presidential candidate Haqqanian called the critical media mudslingers

Vahid Haqqanian, a candidate in Iran’s presidential election and a former member of the office of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, criticized media outlets in a statement for living off the public funds and military budget but interfering in the country’s politics.

Haqqanian stated that his candidacy in the election was based on a personal decision, but the media in their latest mudslinging have suggested that the focal point of my participation in the election is my dependence on the Supreme Leader’s office.

Mr. Haqqanian did not name any specific media outlet, but yesterday, on June 5th, the Tasnim News Agency published a note criticizing some individuals for making their connection to the Supreme Leader’s office the focal point of their election campaigns.

The note stated that those who once held positions in the office of the Supreme Leader have registered for the elections based on their own judgment and discretion, completely individually, and have no connection to the government.
