Prevention of Workers’ Gathering in Asaluyeh by Security Forces
Contract workers employed at the South Pars Gas Refineries had announced their intention to gather on Monday, February 20th, in front of the South Pars Gas Complex headquarters in Asaluyeh. However, according to the Free Workers’ Union, law enforcement and security forces, by being stationed at the location, prevented the workers from gathering.
Additionally, last night, Alireza Mirghafari, one of the officials of the Asaluyeh Trade Unions Association, was arrested by security agencies, and summonses have been issued for several others.
According to the Free Workers’ Union, the trade unions are completely controlled by security forces, government officials, and employers, and they have repeatedly opposed workers’ efforts to hold protests. However, this time, when they joined other workers in protest, they faced security actions.
Contract workers employed at the South Pars Gas Refineries are demanding the full implementation of the job classification plan, the organization of the poor conditions of rental drivers, the implementation of the compensation plan for them, the organization of the welfare services in camps and dormitories, and the fulfillment of their other demands.
