Providing people with access to free internet

The President’s office, in a letter to the Minister of Communications, requested that the necessity of returning the internet to normal conditions and providing people with access to free internet be examined in the Digital Economy Task Force. This request was apparently raised following the pursuit of Mojtaba Tavangar, the head of the Digital Economy Committee in Parliament. Previously, the Minister of Communications had repeatedly stated that the restrictions on the internet were imposed by competent authorities and that lifting them is also within the jurisdiction of these authorities. Nonetheless, the President’s office has entrusted this issue to the Digital Economy Task Force in the government, and it seems that this task force must make a decision on this matter and announce the result. Now, we must see what will happen to the internet situation after this letter.
