Putin: I am ready to meet with Zelensky in Moscow
Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, announced on Wednesday during a press conference in Beijing that he is ready to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, in Moscow. He explained that this proposal came after a request from Donald Trump, the President of the United States, during a meeting last month in Alaska.
Putin emphasized, ‘I have never opposed it, provided that the meeting is well-prepared and yields positive results.’
If Zelensky is ready, let him come to Moscow, then the meeting will take place.
The Russian President stated that in his view, if progress is to be made, Ukraine should lift the martial law, hold elections, and conduct a referendum on territorial issues.
He added that the goal of such a meeting should be to find a real solution to end the Ukraine war, and any meeting that is merely ceremonial will not benefit either party.
The Alaska meeting was the first summit between the US and Russian leaders in four years, lasting about three hours, and both sides described it as successful.
