Putin: We Ally with China to Counter Western Challenges

Putin: We are aligning with China to confront Western challenges

Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, the presidents of Russia and China, during their meeting on Thursday, May 7th in Moscow, criticized the Western approach to the Ukraine war and economic relations, announcing cooperation to face security and strategic challenges.

According to Agence France-Presse, the issue of the Ukraine war and how to end it, as well as Donald Trump’s plan to build an Iron Dome missile defense system in the U.S., were among the points criticized by the leaders of China and Russia.

The Russian president described his meeting with his Chinese counterpart as warm and constructive as always.

Xi Jinping also described Russia’s power as a source of positive energy for the world.

Leaders of 20 countries are arriving in Moscow on Tuesday and Wednesday to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and the end of World War II. Unlike Europe and the U.S., Russia celebrates May 9th as the end of World War II.
