Qalibaf’s Attack on the Women, Life, Freedom Protests: We Demand a Review on the Issue of Hijab

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, called for a review on issues like hijab while simultaneously criticizing the Women, Life, Freedom protests harshly.

Ghalibaf attacked the protest movement following the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini and stated that internal Westernizers involved in last year’s events and the Women, Life, Freedom slogan did not adhere to any religious, ethical, human, or freedom principles. Just look at the rudeness of the language used and the insults directed at all national symbols of the country.

According to human rights organizations, over 300 people were killed and at least 20,000 were arrested during these nationwide protests.
