Qatar summoned the Iranian chargé d’affaires and delivered a protest note

Following the targeting of a Qatari oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, the Qatari government summoned the Iranian embassy’s chargé d’affaires in Doha to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and communicated its official protest note to him.

In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described this attack as a serious violation of international maritime safety, a direct threat to the security of global energy supply, and a clear breach of international law, strongly condemning it.

In this note, Doha has asked Tehran to promptly provide an explanation regarding the incident, take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, and adhere to its obligations under international law.

Qatar also emphasized that it reserves all its rights to take necessary actions in accordance with international law to protect its interests and capabilities.
