Qatari Journalist: We Don't Want a Defensive Coach Like Queiroz

Qatari journalist: We don’t want a defensive coach like Queiroz

A journalist and producer from the Al-Kass network in Qatar expressed surprise at the country’s football federation negotiating with Carlos Queiroz, saying we want a coach whose team plays beautifully, not defensively in Queiroz’s style.

After Qatar’s poor results in the 2022 World Cup and elimination in the group stage, the Qatar Football Federation decided to change its coaching staff. Felix Sanchez, the Spanish head coach, left the team after about 5 years of work in Qatar and winning the 2019 Asian Cup. On Friday, the Al-Kass network claimed that the Qatar Federation approached Carlos Queiroz, the head coach of Iran, and intends to sign a contract with him.

According to this network, Queiroz has even reached initial agreements with Qatar and will probably take over the leadership of the ‘Annabi’ after the Gulf Cup. Meanwhile, the Iranian Football Federation has not yet reacted to this news.
