Question to Seyed Mahmoud Nabavian: What benefit does Saudi Arabia gain from Iran’s protests?

Seyed Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the Presidium of the Article 90 Commission of the Parliament, in an interview with Mehr News Agency, referred to the recent protests. In part of his remarks, he attributed the behind-the-scenes of all recent protests in Iran to media outlets like the Saudi International network. In another part, he stated that Saudi Arabia’s 20-day oil revenue is equal to Iran’s annual budget.

Now, our question to Mr. Nabavian is this: With such abundant oil revenue, much of which is undoubtedly due to Iran’s sanctions and our country’s inability to sell its oil to major global markets, why would Saudi Arabia support Iran’s internal protests? Especially if, by any chance, this movement succeeds, one of its actions would be reconciling with the world. In that case, Iranian oil would enter the global market, and certainly, Saudi Arabia would no longer have such abundant income from oil sales as it does now. What is Saudi Arabia’s interest in this matter?
