Radan Requested Funding for Police Body Cameras

Radan called for funding for police body cameras

One day after the Iranian parliament obliged the police force to install crime detection cameras on the clothing of officers, vehicles, and locations, Mohammadreza Radan, the commander of Faraja, once again called for funding to provide thousands of police body cameras.

According to Mehr News Agency, quoting him, to implement the parliament’s resolution, which requires all officers on missions and vehicles transporting suspects to have body cameras, at least 150,000 body cameras are needed.

Mr. Radan stated that currently about 20,000 body cameras are available, of which 8,000 are online cameras and 12,000 are offline.

In June of this year, he mentioned that addressing the issue of unveiling through cameras is underway, and the police force has asked the government to increase the coverage of surveillance cameras. He also stated that the President agreed with this matter, and it is hoped that funds will soon be allocated for this purpose.
