Reaction of Two Parliament Members to the Verdict of Two Journalists: If They Published the Correct News, They Should Not Be Punished

Reaction of two parliament members to the verdict of two journalists: If they reported the truth, they should not be punished.

According to the issued verdict, 12 years of imprisonment for Elaheh Mohammadi and 13 years for Niloufar Hamedi have been decided. If this verdict is confirmed, 6 years for Elaheh Mohammadi and 7 years for Niloufar Hamedi will be executed.

Masoud Pezeshkian, in response to how fair this verdict is, said, ‘I am not in a position to judge, but what is clear is that someone who is a journalist and conveys the news correctly and bravely should have security that they are not tried or punished.’

Jalal Mahmoudzadeh also stated that the judiciary should decide based on evidence and personal confessions. Since we haven’t seen the case, we can’t make an accurate comment. We just hope that these two journalists have not been wronged. We hope the judiciary re-examines the case of these two journalists.
