The Red Crescent performed 1,270 successful surgeries during the attack on pagers.
Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, announced on Monday, May 11, during a ceremony commemorating Red Crescent Week, that during the pager operations in Lebanon, the rescue teams of the Islamic Republic of Iran successfully performed 1,260 surgeries on the injured victims of this incident.
He mentioned the vast scope of this operation, stating that in the criminal incident of the pager operations in Lebanon, about three thousand people were injured, with 700 of them in critical condition.
Kolivand emphasized that all the surgeries were performed without delay and were completely successful. According to him, during this operation, 500 of the injured were transferred to Iran for further treatment.
During the pager explosions, thousands of these devices, which were in the possession of Lebanese militia members, were detonated in September this year in a complex operation by Mossad and the Israeli army.
Mojtaba Amani, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Lebanon and one of the main allies of the Lebanese militias, was among the victims of this incident and was transferred to Iran for treatment.
The explosion of the Lebanese militias’ pagers is considered the first step in a broad operation by the Israeli army against this group, an operation that continued in the following weeks with the bombing of various areas in Lebanon and the killing of several senior commanders of this militia group.
