Reduce the summoning of government officials to the parliament, says the leader of the Islamic Republic
Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, in a meeting with the representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, said my recommendation is to cooperate with the government, which includes avoiding overburdening government officials with frequent questioning and summoning to the parliament. This issue has been among the complaints of previous and current governments.
The leader of the Islamic Republic emphasized the parliament’s right to question and summon ministers or to investigate governmental bodies based on official and credible reports, adding that in supervisory actions, only focus on necessary and essential matters.
He considered excessive manipulation of economic bills in the parliament as causing their structure to be lost and said the structure of the budget bill should also be preserved. This does not mean ignoring the parliament’s right to amend the government’s bill defects, but its structure should be maintained, and the inclusion of unrealistic and unattainable sources and revenues in the budget should be avoided.
