Renewed Uprising of the Sadrist Movement in Iraq

Reuters Arabic, citing some Iraqi security officials, reported that clashes erupted on Wednesday night between the Saraya al-Salam militia, affiliated with the Sadrist Movement, and the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq militia, affiliated with the Coordination Framework of Iraqi Shiites, near the home of Adi al-Awadi, a member of the Iraqi parliament, in the city of Basra, located in southern Iraq. The clashes continued until this morning, Thursday, September 1, 2022. Four people were killed in these clashes, two of whom were from the Saraya al-Salam forces affiliated with the Sadrist Movement. Currently, Iraqi security forces have taken control of the situation in Basra province.
