Report by Ham-Mihan Newspaper on the Reason for Ali Karimi’s Invitation

On the eve of the World Cup football games, Ham-Mihan newspaper reported that the reason for inviting Ali Karimi, the Iranian player active in the Turkish league, was the concern over the cheering for Ali Karimi, the former star of Iranian football, during the national team’s games.

Ali Karimi, 28, is a former player of Sepahan and Esteghlal and shares the same name as the former star of Iran’s national team, Ali Karimi, who has been continuously supporting the nationwide protests in Iran over the past 9 weeks.

In today’s issue, Ham-Mihan newspaper wrote that his invitation has fueled rumors that, given he shares the name with the former Iran national team and Persepolis club player Ali Karimi, it could be justified that if spectators in the Doha stadiums cheer, it is for Ali Karimi, the Turkish Super League player and current Iran national team member.
