Reporters Without Borders: Iran at the bottom of the press freedom list

On World Press Freedom Day, May 3rd (13th of Ordibehesht), Reporters Without Borders published its 21st annual ranking on media freedom and the safety of journalists worldwide.

In this 2023 global ranking of press freedom, 180 countries and territories have been evaluated. The situation is assessed as very bad in 31 countries, bad in 42 countries, problematic in 55 countries, and good or relatively good in 52 countries.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is ranked 177th out of 180 countries, placed after North Korea, China, and Vietnam, and is only three ranks away from North Korea.
