Resignation of the Deputy Minister of Health or Raisi’s Display of Power

The resignation of the Deputy Minister of Health or Raisi’s display of power. According to Iran Gate, despite the orders given by Ebrahim Raisi to provide the necessary medicine for the country, patients are currently facing a severe shortage of medicine. Observations from media and internal sources from the drug market indicate a severe shortage of medicine in recent weeks. Thus, last week, Ebrahim Raisi, after denying the existence of such a crisis, suddenly issued an order to meet the patients’ need for medicine. Although it was clear from the beginning that this order from Raisi would meet the same fate as his other orders, it seems that the head of the thirteenth government does not know any other way to deal with the country’s problems and crises.

Minister’s Imitation from Raisi

Following Raisi’s order to supply the necessary medicine for patients, the Minister of Health of the thirteenth government immediately issued a similar order to his deputies. According to reports from domestic media, Bahram Einollahi, the Minister of Health and Treatment, had ordered Bahram Daraei, the Deputy for Food and Medicine of this ministry, to provide the necessary pharmaceutical items.

Farewell to Daraei

Despite Einollahi’s order to quickly supply the pharmaceutical items, Bahram Daraei immediately resigned from his position as Deputy for Food and Medicine of the Ministry of Health. If this decision by Daraei had not coincided with street protests in Iran, it could have caused a wave of concern in the drug market. However, this very event caused price tensions in a market that is currently facing a drug shortage.

But informed sources report that Daraei’s resignation was due to Raisi’s order to supply the rare medicines as soon as possible. These observers refer to Raisi’s statements about the immediate resignation of inefficient managers. According to informed sources, the resignation of Abdulmaleki from the Ministry of Labor and the imminent resignation of Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin from the Ministry of Industry are also reactions imposed by Raisi on cabinet members to prove his authority.

Display of Mr. President’s Power

Similar statements have been heard from Raisi’s mouth many times. Someone responsible for the people’s health should have anticipated potential shortages. Why didn’t the pharmaceutical companies, which were obligated to produce, produce?

These statements are an example of Ebrahim Raisi’s usual approach to dealing with problems and crises. Apparently, cabinet members have also accepted that whenever a crisis occurs and they are unable to manage it, they should immediately resign to relieve the president of the burden. Of course, this action by the officials will not go unrewarded, as Raisi has proven that any manager who resigns is appointed to a position of special importance in the country’s economy and governance.

In this case, too, Bahram Daraei has become a victim of Raisi’s display of power in the public mind, in such a way that the government can now blame the shortage of medicine on the Deputy for Food and Medicine of the Ministry of Health and evade accountability. Meanwhile, society has well identified this government policy and directly holds Ebrahim Raisi responsible.

In fact, even if the reason for a crisis like the shortage and unavailability of medicine is the inefficiency of the relevant manager, the direct responsibility lies with the Minister of Health. A minister who was proposed to the parliament by the president and indeed received a high vote of confidence from the revolutionary parliament to enter the ministry. Therefore, the responsibility for such a situation lies not only with Ebrahim Raisi but with the entire government, which has been emphasized to be inefficient from the very beginning.

What is the Real Reason for the Medicine Shortage?

Observations published in domestic media from the drug market indicate the unavailability of foreign items. On the other hand, some medicines that are produced domestically are also currently not found in the market. The reason for this is the restriction on paying the necessary funds for importing medicine into the country. Of course, there is another reason, which is the exploitation by importers and producers of the current situation.

In other words, players in the drug market are taking the health of society hostage and exploiting the inefficiency of Raisi’s government to make a profit under the current sanctions. The pharmaceutical industry in Iran, like some other sectors, has a very strange feature. Many producers simultaneously have licenses to import medicine. In fact, it can be said that the producer and importer in Iran’s pharmaceutical industry are a constant stream that never changes in their composition.

Last year, simultaneously with the removal of preferential currency for medicine, this same mafia group emptied the market of items needed by patients. In fact, these individuals, who are known as drug producers, took the health of the people hostage to once again benefit from preferential currencies. Incidentally, this policy of the drug mafia worked, and the government was forced to provide the 4,200 Tomans dollar for the import of medicine and raw materials.

After this event, Ebrahim Raisi staged an attractive and exciting display and appeared in one of the centers for drug sales and distribution. Raisi, who had previously paid the so-called ransom demanded by the drug mafia before this surprise visit, tried to convince the public with a charismatic stance that he has the ability to solve problems by being directly present in the field.

Currently, patients are facing a scenario similar to what happened last year. The producer or the same drug importer has resorted to hostage-taking and is pressuring the government to gain more concessions from Raisi and his team. The powerful leverage they have is emptying the market of medicines that are vital for many patients. Now, Raisi has forced the deputy minister to resign.

Sources report disagreements within the Ministry of Health regarding this decision by the president, but it seems the government will soon give the ransom demanded by the drug mafia to be able to display efficiency and field presence with full authority.
