The Director General of Cultural Heritage of Fars announces the completion of the restoration of Saadi’s Tomb

The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Fars Province has announced the completion of the restoration of the Saadi Tomb complex, stating that the restoration has been finished and the scaffolding was removed on Sunday, March 17.

Mohammad Thabet Eqlidi stated that this project took 7 months to complete. According to him, not only has this structure not been restored since the 1980s, but it also had not been properly restored over the years.

He further mentioned that this historical complex of Saadi is ready to welcome Nowruz tourists and that the landscaping of the surrounding area has been completed.

The public relations department of the Cultural Heritage Administration of Fars had previously announced the allocation of a budget of one billion tomans for the restoration of this structure in the year 2023.

The current building of Saadi’s Tomb was constructed in 1951 based on a design by Mohsen Foroughi, an Iranian modernist architect. The tombs of Saadi and Hafez, two renowned Iranian poets, are annually among the tourist destinations in Iran.
