Reuters: Iran and the US are exploring a temporary agreement to halt the war

The Reuters news agency reported that Iran and the US are close to a temporary agreement to halt the conflicts, an agreement that is structured as a short-term memorandum and leaves many of the main disagreements unresolved for now.

According to this report, the proposed plan includes three stages: a formal end to the war, resolving the Strait of Hormuz crisis, and starting a 30-day period for negotiations on a more comprehensive agreement.

Reuters, citing informed sources, wrote that sensitive issues like the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium reserves, limitations on the nuclear program, missile program, and Tehran’s support for proxy groups are not included in the initial memorandum.

A Pakistani official involved in the mediation process told Reuters that our priority is to announce a permanent end to the war, and the other issues will be resolved later in direct negotiations.

Donald Trump also said on Wednesday that an agreement with Iran is very likely and this issue will be resolved quickly.

In contrast, Iranian officials have reacted cautiously to these reports. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman announced that Tehran is still reviewing the American proposal, and Ebrahim Rezaei, the spokesman for the National Security Commission of the Parliament, described the published text as more like a wishlist from the US.

The publication of these reports has led to a decrease in oil prices and a rise in global stock markets. Brent oil, after a heavy decline on Wednesday, fell again by about three percent.
