Reuters: Iran asked Saudi Arabia to mediate for the resumption of nuclear talks with the USA

Reuters, citing two regional sources, reported that the Islamic Republic has asked Saudi Arabia to mediate in order to restart the stalled nuclear negotiations with the USA. This move, according to the Reuters report, is interpreted as a sign of Tehran’s concern over the potential repetition of Israeli airstrikes and severe economic pressures.

A day before Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Washington, Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized in a letter to the Saudi Crown Prince that Tehran is not seeking confrontation, desires to expand regional cooperation, and remains ready to resolve nuclear disputes through diplomacy, provided that the rights of the Islamic Republic are guaranteed.
