Reuters: Iran used the Syria earthquake to transfer weapons

The Reuters news agency reported in an exclusive report on Wednesday, April 12, that Iran used relief flights for Syrian earthquake victims to transfer weapons and military equipment to its strategic ally, Syria.

These sources told Reuters that the aim of this operation was to strengthen Iran’s defensive line against Israel in Syria and to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Reuters wrote that according to these sources, after the earthquake on February 6 of this year in northern Syria and Turkey, hundreds of Iranian planes landed at the airports of Aleppo, Damascus, and Latakia, and these flights continued for seven weeks.

According to a United Nations report, more than six thousand people lost their lives across Syria due to this devastating earthquake.

Two regional sources and a Western intelligence source told Reuters that the Iranian shipments included advanced communication equipment, radar batteries, and spare parts needed for the planned upgrade of Syria’s air defense system.
