Reuters: Khaled Mashal likely to succeed Ismail Haniyeh

Reuters news agency, quoting its sources, wrote that there is a high probability of Khaled Mashal being chosen to replace Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, who was killed in Tehran.

Khaled Mashal, a senior member and the head of Hamas’ political bureau, has been a member of its political bureau since the establishment of Hamas.

He once survived an assassination attempt in Jordan in 1997 through poison injection. Like Haniyeh, Mashal lives in Qatar and is one of his closest associates.
