Reuters: Turkey has blocked NATO-Israel cooperation due to the Gaza war

Sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that since October, Turkey has blocked the path of cooperation between NATO and Israel due to the war in Gaza, and it does not want the alliance to engage with Israel until this conflict ends.

These sources, who wished to remain anonymous, said that Turkey has cited the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza as a violation of NATO’s founding principles and has vetoed all NATO interactions with Israel since October, including meetings and joint exercises.

A United Nations investigation in June revealed that both Israel and Hamas committed war crimes in the early stages of the Gaza war. The organization’s statement mentioned that Israel’s actions, due to the high civilian casualty figures, constitute crimes against humanity. Israel denies this, stating that its goal in the Gaza operations, which have so far resulted in nearly 40,000 deaths, is to eliminate Hamas.
