Reuters: UN Security Council to Meet on Friday Regarding Snapback Mechanism Against Iran

Reuters: The Security Council will meet on Friday regarding the snapback mechanism against Iran

Reuters reported that the United Nations Security Council will convene on Friday at the request of France, the UK, and Germany to discuss the initiation of the snapback process.

The Axios website reported on Thursday, citing two European diplomats, that France, Germany, and the UK announced the start of the snapback mechanism against the Islamic Republic by sending a letter to the members of the UN Security Council.

Reuters also reported this news, stating that these three countries emphasized in their letter that they will make every effort to resolve issues with Iran within the next 30 days.

Abbas Araqchi, in reaction to this European action, said the Islamic Republic will respond appropriately to this illegal and unjustified action by the three European countries to preserve and secure its national rights and interests.

Officials of the Islamic Republic had previously warned that if the snapback mechanism is initiated, Tehran will consider options, including withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
