Isa Kalantari’s revelation: The country’s water mafia is in control
Isa Kalantari, the former Minister of Agriculture and former head of the Environmental Protection Organization of the Islamic Republic, revealed in an interview with Didban Iran the hidden aspects of what he calls the water mafia.
He mentioned the role of Mahab Ghods Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Energy, saying that this company acted as a monopoly and oversaw all dam construction projects and water studies in the country.
Kalantari added that before Mahab Ghods was transferred to Astan Quds Razavi and its subsequent return, all water projects in the country were entrusted to this company. Mahab Ghods operated at 1500% capacity and, after dividing the projects among other companies, took its share.
According to Kalantari, in addition to Mahab Ghods, Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters and Sepasad Company, owned by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, have also played a decisive role in the destruction of the country’s water resources.
He introduced these entities as the main decision-makers in Iran’s water policies and emphasized that the water mafia is even behind the water transfer projects from the Sea of Oman to the provinces of Kerman, Isfahan, and Yazd.
