The Revolutionary Court sentenced another protester to death
The state news agency ISNA reports that the judiciary has sentenced a protester to death. This is apparently the second person to be sentenced to death in connection with the nationwide protests in Iran over the past two months.
ISNA, without naming the defendant, wrote that according to the issued verdict, the defendant who had created fear and panic among people in the streets using a cold weapon, set a citizen’s motorcycle on fire, and attacked and injured a person with a knife, was sentenced to death.
Media and governmental bodies of the Islamic Republic refer to the protesters as rioters. According to ISNA, on Sunday, another person was sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court, and five defendants were sentenced to five to ten years in prison.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Human Rights Council on Tuesday, November 15, called on the authorities of the Islamic Republic to promptly release the detainees of the protests and refrain from issuing death sentences.
