Reza Pahlavi: We orchestrated the largest civil disobedience in Iran’s history
After the announcement of the election results for the Parliament and the Assembly of Experts in Iran, Reza Pahlavi wrote in a post on the social media platform X that the election boycott has been effective.
He wrote on X, ‘On Friday, March 1st, we, the people of Iran, with unprecedented unity, orchestrated the largest civil disobedience in our history. This time, a decisive majority of us stood together, choosing to boycott rather than collaborate with the murderers of our loved ones.’
Mr. Pahlavi described this result as a turning point, writing that it wasn’t just a silent protest against the anti-Iranian regime of the Islamic Republic, but an important turning point in our path and method of struggle to reclaim Iran, believing that our power and numbers far exceed the regime’s repressive forces.
The official statistics for the Parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections have not yet been released, but IRNA, the Iranian state news agency, announced a participation rate of 42%, which is the lowest voter turnout in the history of Parliamentary elections since the 1979 revolution. Government supporters claim this statistic shows that the boycott project has failed.
