Rostami Breaks World and Paralympic Record to Win Gold

Rostami achieved gold by breaking the world and Paralympic record

The twentieth medal for Iran’s sports delegation at the 2024 Paralympics was earned by Rouhollah Rostami. In the powerlifting competition, Rostami hung the 80 kg gold medal around his neck.

The Iranian representative managed 230 kg in his first attempt, then registered 234 kg, and succeeded in his final attempt with 242 kg.

Guided by Hossein Tavakkoli, the Olympic weightlifting champion of the 2000 Sydney Games, he not only won the championship title but also improved the world record. Chinese and Iraqi weightlifters secured the silver and bronze medals.

Iran has now won a total of 20 medals with 4 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze, placing them in the twenty-fifth position in the Paris Paralympics medal ranking table.
