Rudi Völler's Contract Extended as Sporting Director of Germany's National Football Team

Extension of Rudi Völler’s contract as the sporting director of the German national football team

The German Football Association extended its contract with Rudi Völler, the sporting director of the national team, before the contract’s expiration. As a result, Völler will remain the sporting director of the German national football team until the end of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Rudi Völler began a new phase of his collaboration with the German Football Association in February 2023 as the sporting director of the national team. He himself was a player when Germany won the World Cup in 1990 and served as the head coach of the German national team from 2000 to 2004, leading the team to a runner-up finish in the 2002 World Cup held in Korea and Japan.

His current mission is the successful participation of the German national team in the 2024 European Championship, which Germany is hosting.
