Russia has received a new shipment of Shahed drones.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian military continues to use Iranian-made Shahed drones and other lower-precision systems in its attacks against Ukraine.
The report references statements by Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, who said that the recent shipment of drones from Iran to Russia occurred while Russia has nearly exhausted its stockpile of strategic missiles since September of last year.
This Ukrainian military official added that Ukrainian forces have shot down 750 out of the 850 missiles that Russia has launched towards Ukraine during this period. According to him, Russian forces have resorted to using cheaper and shorter-range missile systems in the meantime.
The report from this U.S.-based think tank, published on Sunday, April 23, stated that the Russian military is using drones made by the Islamic Republic to compensate for its shortage of precision munitions.
