Russia has suspended the comprehensive cooperation agreement with Iran.
A Russian Foreign Ministry official says the comprehensive cooperation agreement between Iran and Russia has been temporarily suspended, but the ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Moscow has called this news false.
On Tuesday, June 12, the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported, quoting Zamir Kabulov, a Russian Foreign Ministry official, that the new agreement between Moscow and Tehran regarding comprehensive cooperation has been temporarily suspended due to issues faced by Iranian partners.
He added that this is a strategic decision by the leaders of the two countries and that the process has been halted due to the issues our Iranian partners are facing.
Mr. Kabulov, who is the special representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan and the director of the Second Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, explained in another interview with the Russian news agency TASS that work on the comprehensive agreement between Russia and Iran has been suspended due to Tehran being occupied with the presidential elections.
