Russian Defense Minister: Russia and its allies should increase military maneuvers in Asia

Sergei Shoigu, the Russian Defense Minister, said on Friday, April 26th, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting that Russia and its allies should expand their joint military exercises in Asia as they face the direct threat of U.S. efforts to expand its security influence in the region.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting is held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. This regional organization includes members such as Russia, India, China, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

The Russian Defense Minister emphasized at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting that the deployment of military infrastructure in the region by the United States and its allies is unacceptable and should be considered a direct threat to the stability of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
