Russian Man Sentenced to Prison Due to Daughter's Anti-War Drawing

Russian man sentenced to prison because of his daughter’s anti-war drawing

A Russian father was sentenced to two years in prison for discrediting the Russian military because his daughter drew an anti-war picture and he was also a critic of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

However, 53-year-old Alexei Moskalyov did not appear in court in Yefremov, a city near Ukraine, at the time of sentencing, and according to the court, he escaped from house arrest. His lawyer also says he has no information about his client’s possible whereabouts.

The family’s troubles began last April when Masha drew a picture at school with the Ukrainian flag, writing ‘Glory to Ukraine’ and placed a missile and the Russian flag with the phrase ‘No to war’ next to it. The school authorities reported this drawing to the police.
