Russia’s objection to the UN resolution veto: Washington is complicit in the massacre

After the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution on Friday that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Russia’s representative at the organization attacked the US and accused Washington of complicity in Israel’s brutal massacre in a statement.

Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s deputy permanent representative at the UN, stated that by doing this, the US condemned thousands more civilians in Palestine and Israel, as well as UN workers who are trying to help them, to death.

Referring to the votes of the US and the UK, he added that one can say many beautiful but hollow words about democracy, human rights, peace and security, order and law, but today we understood the true value of these words, as two members of the Security Council chose to remain partners in Israel’s brutal actions.

Russia was among the 13 countries that voted in favor of the draft resolution, which called for an immediate ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages, and humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip.
