Russia’s reaction to Finland’s NATO membership: Finland is different from Ukraine

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian government, in response to Finland joining NATO, stated that the Kremlin believes this action is another sign of worsening conditions. The expansion of NATO is an encroachment on our security and Russia’s national interests.

Naturally, these conditions force us to take countermeasures to ensure our security, both tactically and strategically.

Russia is closely monitoring developments following Finland’s entry into NATO and will take necessary actions based on that.

Finland’s joining NATO is fundamentally different from the Ukraine issue. Finland has never had an anti-Russia approach, and we have not had any tensions with Finland.
