Saeed Madani, a social researcher, has been sentenced to 9 years in prison.
Saeed Madani, a social researcher and national-religious activist, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for allegedly propagating against the Islamic Republic regime, and to an additional year for what has been described as forming and leading groups opposing the regime, totaling 9 years in prison.
According to reports, Mr. Madani, who was arrested last November during the peak of nationwide protests following the death of Mahsa Amini after her detention by the morality police, has been held in the security ward 209 of Evin Prison and is now serving his sentence in ward 4 of Evin Prison.
This social researcher was also arrested once before in 2011 and, after being detained for two years, was sentenced in 2013 to serve 6 years in prison in Bandar Abbas.
He was previously arrested in 1994 when he was the editor-in-chief of Iran-e-Farda magazine, and again in 2000 on charges of collaborating with the Council of National-Religious Activists.
