The death sentence of Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh has been revoked.
He was convicted of ‘moharebeh’ and sentenced to exile and imprisonment.
According to reports from media inside Iran, the Revolutionary Court has revoked the death sentence of Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh, a bodybuilder and one of those arrested during nationwide protests. However, the charge of ‘moharebeh’ against him remains, and because of this, Mr. Nourmohammadzadeh has been sentenced to 10 years of exile in Kahnooj, Kerman Province, 5 years of imprisonment for the charge of assembly and conspiracy, and an additional year of imprisonment for disrupting public order.
This comes while one of the charges used as a basis for the ‘moharebeh’ accusation against Sahand Nourmohammadzadeh in the preliminary court was related to setting a trash bin on fire, which at the time, mid-November last year, faced widespread reactions.
Hamed Ahmadi, Mr. Nourmohammadzadeh’s chosen lawyer, has stated that he will appeal against this new sentence.
