Sahar Mosayebi, an Iranian filmmaker and director, joined the group of female filmmakers who recently expressed their opposition to mandatory hijab by publishing her unveiled photo.
Ms. Mosayebi wrote on Instagram, ‘Today I am free. I owe this freedom to the people of my country, to the spilled blood of Mahsa, Neda, Nika, Navid, Sattar, Kian, and to the grieving mothers, the beloved ones in prison, and the brave women and men of my nation.’
She continued, ‘I, Sahar Mosayebi, bow my head in respect, and if today I am proud of being a woman and an Iranian, it is because of you. In the name of Woman, Life, Freedom.’
Ms. Mosayebi began her Instagram post with the final verse of Googoosh’s song ‘Divorce’ and wrote,
‘Perhaps if we stay together on this path, we will sing the poem of happiness when we arrive.’
