Salman Rushdie’s attacker: I respect Ayatollah Khomeini

Hadi Matar, the attacker of Salman Rushdie, said in an interview with the New York Post that he was surprised to hear that Rushdie survived. He praised Imam Khomeini and added, ‘I respect Ayatollah Khomeini. I think he is a great person.’

He denied any connection with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and said about Salman Rushdie, ‘He is someone who attacked Islam. He attacked the beliefs of Muslims.’
