Sara Javanmardi, a member of the national shooting team, retired from professional sports due to unfavorable conditions and lack of facilities.
Sara Javanmardi, a member of the Iranian women’s national shooting team and one of the most decorated Paralympic athletes, announced on Wednesday, September 5th, at the end of the Paris Paralympic Games, that she is retiring from professional sports due to unfavorable conditions and lack of facilities. Javanmardi, who holds 4 Paralympic gold medals and one bronze, said with sadness, ‘I am closing this chapter with peace of mind.’
Javanmardi also emphasized that she received no support from the authorities over all these years and was forced to make this decision due to their incompetence.
This member of the Iranian women’s national shooting team further added, ‘If I hold records, it is due to my own effort and determination because we have issues with equipment. None of our competitors faced the conditions that Iranian athletes do. When I was shooting in the finals, I was thinking of only one thing: once I wrote a letter to the Federation President requesting ammunition, but my request was denied.’
