Sara Siahpour, a teacher and union activist, has been dismissed from the Ministry of Education for participating in teachers’ legal protests, posting photos without a hijab, and supporting the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ campaign.
On her Instagram page, Ms. Siahpour shared a picture of her dismissal notice, writing, ‘Today, I received my badge of honor. I will turn my dismissal notice into a medal and wear it around my neck, proudly standing by the right path I chose.’ The Teachers’ Union Council channel has also confirmed that the Ministry of Education’s Disciplinary Committee has issued the dismissal for this teacher and union activist.
According to the council’s announcement, the charges leading to this experienced teacher’s definitive dismissal include union activities, legal demands, participation in teachers’ legal protests, posting photos without a hijab, and supporting the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ campaign. Last summer, Ms. Siahpour was sentenced by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Abolqasem Salavati, to five years in prison for the charge of assembly and collusion, and one year for propaganda activities against the regime.
