Sardar Azmoun will make it to the World Cup

Sardar Azmoun’s injury is the most significant concern for Iranian football at the current stage, ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

On October 4th, Sardar Azmoun, the star of Iran’s national team, suffered a calf muscle tear while warming up during his team’s Champions League match against Porto. Initial reports indicated that he would be out for 6 to 8 weeks, potentially reducing hopes for his participation in the Qatar World Cup to a minimum.

Dr. Naser Heidari took a closer look at Sardar Azmoun’s injury and emphasized that the Bayer Leverkusen star will make it to the World Cup. The specialist doctor said about this matter:

The triceps surae refers to a group of three muscles along the back of the calf. The gastrocnemius muscle, due to high forces and rapid changes in length and muscle contraction, is at the greatest risk of injury. These muscles converge to form the Achilles tendon and can be considered as a large rope made up of multiple fibers. I believe that up to the second degree, the gastrocnemius muscle in his leg is intact, meaning there is essentially a minor tear involving only some of the fibers making up this rope. He only needs to be away from play for 3-4 weeks and will be ready for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
