Sardar Azmoun's Criticism of IRIB: How Our Intelligence as Audience Was Insulted

How Sardar Azmoun Criticized IRIB for Insulting Our Intelligence as Viewers

Sardar Azmoun sharply criticized the selection of guests for IRIB’s special Yalda Night programs by posting an Instagram story. He wrote that IRIB’s choice of guests for the Yalda Night special was so extraordinary that it insulted our intelligence as viewers.

Azmoun wrote that instead of inviting a talented and successful young person to the program to talk about their great achievements as a role model, we saw someone on air who became famous with the phrase ‘Is it real or cake?’ and, in a surprising decision, soon ended up on television. So, where did the role modeling for our youth go?

The national football team’s forward continued by writing that, with all due respect to this young person, IRIB was not the place for him. It was a place for a successful individual who could even be a role model for us adults. I’m sorry for this choice, and I hope that from now on, the officials will be more careful in role modeling and selecting guests, and show more respect for the audience. Hoping for that day.
