Saudi Arabia Halts Broadcast of the Muawiya Series

Saudi Arabia stopped airing the series ‘Muawiya’

The Gulf Online news outlet reported that Saudi Arabia’s MBC network has removed the controversial series ‘Muawiya’ from its Ramadan broadcast schedule.

The airing of this series in recent weeks has faced a lot of criticism in some Arab countries, to the extent that after the announcement of its broadcast ban in Iraq, the MBC network declared it would not air the series in Iraq.

Gulf Online has stated that the reason for halting the series’ broadcast is the renewed closeness between Iran and Saudi Arabia and the increased efforts to reduce tensions in the region.
