Saudi Arabian media have launched a fierce campaign against Netanyahu
Saudi Arabia has initiated a strong media campaign against Benjamin Netanyahu due to the growing frustration of the Gulf emirates with the Israeli Prime Minister and the Gaza war process.
The Saudi media’s attacks on the Israeli Prime Minister intensified last week after he seemingly joked in a television interview about establishing a Palestinian state on Saudi soil.
According to the Financial Times, the sharp and unusual attacks by Saudi state media on the Israeli Prime Minister cannot occur without the support of Saudi officials. Some Israeli analysts say these attacks are more due to Saudi Arabia’s disappointment with Donald Trump’s recent statements, but they wish to maintain their close relationship with the U.S. President.
The wave of Saudi media attacks on Mr. Netanyahu has intensified while U.S. and Israeli officials have recently spoken about the potential prospect of normalizing Saudi Arabia’s relations with Israel.
Previously, Saudi Arabia had emphasized that any normalization of relations with Israel was conditional on the establishment of a Palestinian state.
