Scorer of Germany's Winning Goal in 1990 World Cup Passes Away

The scorer of Germany’s winning goal in the 1990 World Cup has passed away

His former club Bayern Munich announced that Andreas Brehme, whose penalty in the 85th minute led to West Germany’s victory over Argentina in the 1990 World Cup final, passed away last night at the age of 63.

Bayern Munich noted in a statement that it is deeply shocked by the sudden death of Andreas Brehme.

Brehme, who was a versatile left-back, spent two seasons at Bayern Munich between 1986 and 1988, and in 1987 he won the Bundesliga with the team.

He began playing football in the working-class areas of Hamburg but later played for clubs such as Kaiserslautern, Inter Milan, as well as Bayern Munich, Saarbrücken, and Real Zaragoza.
