Security Council vote on resuming sanctions on Iran on Friday

Agence France-Presse reported on Thursday, September 17, quoting diplomatic sources, that the United Nations Security Council will vote on Friday on resuming sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This vote is being conducted at the request of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

These three European countries, which are signatories to the JCPOA, have accused the Islamic Republic of not adhering to commitments under this agreement and have initiated the process of activating the snapback mechanism.

Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, said in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 that he expects the sanctions to be fully reinstated by the end of September.
