Sediqe Vasmaghi: The Revolutionary Court is not legal, and I will not attend it.
Sediqe Vasmaghi, a religious researcher who was arrested at her home two days ago, announced today, March 18, that she does not consider the Revolutionary Court to be legal and will not attend it.
Ms. Vasmaghi’s Instagram account quoted her saying that the Revolutionary Court is not legal, and defending oneself in this unjust court is meaningless. I will not attend it and do not want to face these oppressive judges.
According to this post, in the indictment issued to Ms. Vasmaghi today in prison, she is accused of propaganda against the regime on social media and appearing in public places without Islamic hijab.
According to reports, Ms. Vasmaghi’s condition worsened due to high blood pressure from this morning, but she was not transferred to the prison infirmary because she refused to wear a hijab.
Previously, Ms. Vasmaghi’s lawyer, Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaei, said that Ms. Vasmaghi had appointed him as her lawyer, and the investigator said she must come herself, but Ms. Vasmaghi said she would not go until they told her what her charges were, which led them to come to her home and arrest her.
